Aflac pays cash to cover your expenses if you get hurt, as the Duck has told us, in so many words, for years. The "Out of Work Duck" campaign saw the Duck injured and unable to work. While he was busy recovering, we developed a series of short videos that helped fill in the story of his hospitalization and therapy. Armed with a small budget, a blue polka dot apron my grandma gave me for Christmas, and no Duck, we let the Duck's friends speak for him.
When people ask what my favorite piece I've ever created is, I usually say these films. They were funny, the production was gritty and all-hands-on-deck, and they told, in a plain and engaging way, exactly what a hard-to-explain product really does.
Of course, the Duck had to get better sometime. To celebrate Aflac's longstanding partnership with college football and the Heisman Trophy, we also created a spot that gave the freshly-recovered Duck the chance to inspire a down-on-their-luck team. I have still not recovered from the eerily lifelike puppetry at that shoot. I may never.
